Gear SHOPPING List

We live in a busy world so we have put together shopping lists to help you save time. The items below are either in my own kits or come highly recommended from the other authors on this site and their kits. There are tons of choices that may fit your needs better so shop with scrutiny and prudence.

TOOLS

• Morakniv Garberg Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife (Great knife, different sheaths available, under $100)
• Smith & Wesson Folding Knife (Simple, Sturdy, Lightweight, and only $16)
• Multitool - Leatherman Signal (High end survival Leatherman, look at all models to choose fit your need)
• Multitool - Generic 14 in 1 (Handy and cheap, lower quality but great for a backup multitool)
• Multitool - RAK Hammer (I keep one in my truck and one in my boat, they can be heavy to pack)
• Folding Shovel (The one in my truck has been a lifesaver a couple times)
• Bushcraft Scotch Eye and Peg Tool (Brings shelter making to a new level)

NAVIGATION

• MC-2 Mirror Compass (Get a good one and be done, mirror is super handy)
• MGRS/UTM Grid Reader and Protractor (Helps with accuracy and drawing lines, weighs nothing)
• Garmin GPS 66i with Sat Comm (Love this GPS and the sat comm is wonderful to keep in touch)
• Garmin GPS Montana 700 without Sat Comm (Big beautiful screen, rugged too)

LIGHTS

• Glow Stick Chem Lights (One time use, great for marking pickup locations, perfect for backup light)
• LED Lantern 4 pack (Ideal for power outages, ~90 hours on 3 AA battery)
• LED Lantern Collapsible Rechargeable (~1 hour on bright, 4 hours on dim, hand crank or USB charge, surprisingly bright)
• LED Flashlight Super Bright (20k lumens, Portable sun, comes with batteries, heavy but it will light up a field)
• LED Flashlight Smaller but still bright (1200lumens, rechargeable, smaller and packable)
• LED Microlight - Red 3 pack (22hr battery, perfect for night ops, covert map reading)
• LED Microlight - White 10 pack (Clip these on and in your packs, cheap but effective)
